CoServ Electric is a cooperative owned and overseen by the North Texas customers we serve (known as “Members”). Electric cooperatives were created under the Rural Electrification Act in 1936 to bring electricity to farm and ranch communities unserved by investor-owned utilities.

In 2019, CoServ sold about 629,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy. CoServ buys power from Brazos Electric Cooperative, and Brazos in turn buys a portion of its power supply from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) wholesale market.

Is CoServ a good company to work for?

Overall it’s a good company to work for with pretty good benefits including 401k and pension benefits, and tuition reimbursement. Upper Management and executive staff is decent.

You can find your account number on the upper right portion of your bill. Simply fill out the SmartHub registration form, and you will get an email asking you to “Verify your account.” The email will include a link that will prompt you to create a password.
Does CoServ allow net metering?
CoServ’s current policies provide net metering for solar systems with a capacity of 50 kW or less.

How do I know if I have CoServ or Oncor?
In our area, it should be either Oncor or CoServ. The easiest way to determine your TDU is to look at your electric statement and see who it says to contact in case of emergency or outage (your TDU maintains the lines and actually provides the electricity). If it says to call CoServ, you’re done.
Is solar free in Texas?
Texas doesn’t have a statewide solar tax credit or rebate program, but a number of local governments and utility companies (large and small) offer incentives to homeowners going solar. Residents of the state capitol, Austin, are eligible for Austin Energy benefits.
